PRIX DE PAUL

12th July – 3rd November 2024

In 1887 Paul Tetar van Elven made his will. One of the items in this will was the creation of a Paul Tetar van Elven fund to support young artists, by means of a competition to be held every four years, for paintings with historical subject matter.

In the exhibition “Prix de Paul” these prize-winning paintings will be displayed all together, for the first time ever. Some of Paul’s own historical paintings from the period 1845-1870 will also be on display.

TAKE A LOOK INSIDE

30th November 2024 – 25th May 2025

This exhibition is dedicated to Paul Tetar van Elven’s bosom friend: Alexander Hugo Bakker Korff (1824-1882).

This artist was very popular in the 19th century, but his name sank quickly into oblivion after his death. 2024 is the 200 th anniversary of Bakker Korff’s birth – a good opportunity to put a forgotten painter back into the spotlights.

Works of all genres will be displayed: paintings, drawings, copies, photographs, and examples of what he was most famous for – domestic interior scenes.
