OUTSIDE
untill 12th October 2025
Paul Tetar van Elven stopped exhibiting his paintings from around 1870 but he carried on painting and drawing for himself. His sketchbooks are filled with atmospheric watercolours, often made during his travels, and using the grey and brown tints that are so characteristic of the Hague School of Painting.
Some of these paintings were worked up afterwards in oils, using a brighter palette of colours. In the exhibition "Outside", these private works of Paul Tetar can be seen for the first time.
